1. You will receive guidance on how to work with specific injuries
Do you have a nagging shoulder injury? Sciatica? Disc issues? By working one-on-one with an experienced yoga teacher, you will be able to create a practice that will aid in your healing process, rather than test your limitations. Often times, your instructor may even use several different modalities to best suit your needs.
2. You will learn how to establish a strong foundation
When you first start practicing yoga, it’s easy to develop unsafe patterns and tendencies. In a typical group yoga class, it’s easy to miss out on the intricacies and nuances that will allow you to create a strong, supported and sustainable practice. If you are early on in your yoga journey, privates offer a wonderful opportunity to explore the practice a bit deeper in order to develop patterns that will keep you safe and feeling good!
3. You’ll create a uniquely customized practice
There is not one “right” way to practice yoga. I believe that everyone should do poses in slightly different ways in order to receive the most benefit. We all have differences in our anatomy which means that a healthy downward facing dog for student A may look completely different from a healthy downward facing dog for student B. This is what makes us amazingly intricate but it also means we could all benefit from working with someone that can provide guidance on how to build a practice that nourishes and sustains your individual body.
4. You are allowed to take your time and ask plenty of questions
Have you even been in a class and wanted to ask how to modify or where you should feel something but the rest of the class was already onto the next pose? Private yoga lessons are designed to move at your pace and you aren’t left vying for the instructor’s attention when you have a question. As a questioner myself, I have found that moving at an intentional pace and understanding the why’s of the practice leave me feeling integrated and empowered.
5. You can find ways to move out of a rut
After you’ve been practicing for a while, it’s easy to arrive in a place where you feel stuck. You could be looking for a creative way to mix things up or maybe you’re in need of a refresh on some poses that don’t feel like they once did. Wherever you find yourself, private lessons can be an excellent way to be reset and allow yourself to be challenged in a new way.
